Why too much oily fish can be BAD for you – it increases diabetes risk

The research, presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, suggest women should monitor their levels of fatty acid consumption, which is also found in red meat. According to health experts, it is recommended to eat at least one portion – around 140 g when cooked – of oily fish a week. This is because oily fish can contain low levels of pollutants that can build up in the body. For this reason, we should be careful of the portions we should be eating each week and we must follow some recommendations. These recommendations varies  for different groups of people. It is advised to have no more than four portions of oily fish a week, for a new study found to have eating too much of it can increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
